BREXIT BASICS
NORTHERN IRELAND
NORTHERN IRELAND holds a unique position after the transition period.
It remains part of the EUROPEAN SINGLE MARKET while being granted unfettered access to the UK INTERNAL MARKET
What does this mean?
It means that from the 1st of January, for goods moving within the ISLAND OF IRELAND, e.g. Belfast to Cork, things remain the same. Nothing changes, and freight is free to move without any extra documentation or any customs procedures or additional administration.
For goods moving from NORTHERN IRELAND to GREAT BRITAIN again, thing will remain the same. No additional documentation or administration will be required on behalf or the Exporter or Importer and goods will move as they always have.
HOWEVER, goods moving from GREAT BRITAIN to NORTHERN IRELAND are now subject to new procedures and you need to be ready for these.
IMPORT DECLARATIONS will be required for all goods entering NI from GB.
SAFETY & SECURITY DECLARATION & GVMS entries will also be required and these will be carried out by Liam Connolly (Roadfreight) Ltd.
